Unicorn Overlord True Ending: The Four Conditions
The true ending in Unicorn Overlord comes down to a chain of four conditions the captured sources agree on. This page walks the chain, the variables that decide it, and keeps every ending result behind a spoiler note.
Complete the Rite of Covenant in Elheim and choose a Maiden, visit all six shrines through To the Sanctuaries, win the final battle, then emancipate rather than strike and defeat the opponent that follows. Captured sources agree.

The True Ending Requirements in Order
The chain has four steps, and the two independent captured sources agree on the sequence: complete the Rite of Covenant in Elheim and choose a partner for the Ring of Maiden, visit all six shrines through the Main Quest To the Sanctuaries, win the final battle Unicorn Overlord against Galerius, then choose to emancipate his soul rather than strike him down and defeat Baltro in the fight that follows.
The result depends on those steps, not one late trick.
Each Step, and Where It Happens
The steps follow a guide site's walkthrough and a matching community thread. Spoiler note: the last two steps name the final opponents.
Complete the Rite of Covenant in Elheim
The guide site ties the Rite to the Great Sage's revelation in Elheim; finishing it lets you select a partner for the Ring of Maiden and gives the rings their true forms.
Visit all six shrines
To the Sanctuaries sends you to the six shrines of Fevrith. One player says each region must be liberated first; the guide site does not say that.
Win the final battle
The battle stage is named Unicorn Overlord and the opponent is Galerius; the guide site places it in the middle of the Cornia region, which is that site's wording alone.
Make the choice, then win again
After Galerius falls you are offered two choices; emancipating his soul is the true-ending branch, and Baltro then appears as the last opponent to defeat.
What Decides the Outcome
Spoiler note: this section describes where the branches lead, including Galerius's fate and Ilenia.
Both sources agree on three variables: the Rite of Covenant, all six shrines, and the choice after the final battle. Skipping the Rite is described as leading to a worse branch, where Galerius's spirit possesses Alain; finishing it but skipping shrines leaves the resolution incomplete.
One player, and no other captured source, says Ilenia is rescued in the true ending; treat it as a single remark.
No captured source supports an earlier, permanent lock: the outcome is tied to the final battle and the choice that follows it.
How You Know You Are on Track
Spoiler note: the last signal concerns what follows the final battle.
- A partner has been chosen, and both rings are described as taking their true forms.
- The To the Sanctuaries quest is working through the six shrines.
- A follow-up opponent appears after you pick emancipation.
If You Think You Are Locked Out
Spoiler note: this section refers to the branch that appears when the final battle is fought early.
- Do not restart over a lockout fear: no captured source describes an earlier node as permanently missable.
- The sources describe a visibly different branch if the final battle is challenged before Scarlett is rescued; whether it is its own ending, or affects a save, stays open.
- If the branch you got was not the wanted one, re-check the Rite of Covenant and the six shrines.
Where the Sources Disagree
- How many endings exist: one camp counts three, another two, a third would give the early branch its own category. No count is carried here.
- What the early branch is: some players describe a changed scene with an extra character and a twist, others say nothing changes.
- Whether the six shrines require liberating every region: one player says yes; the guide site is silent.
Version Scope and Open Questions
No captured source names the endings, states character survival conditions, or confirms how the early branch interacts with a save. The thread predates the current patch and the guide site carries no version label; v1.05 (2024-05-27) is the confirmed patch.
